True canadian pride

Canadian actor and producer Elliot Page has just come out as transgender and says they identify as non-binary. The ‘Juno’ star made a public post to their Instagram on December 1st. The page concluded: “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive. To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”

Nick Adams, GLAAD’s Director of Transgender Media, said, “Elliot Page has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people. He will now be an inspiration to countless trans and non-binary people. All transgender people deserve the chance to be ourselves and to be accepted for who we are. We celebrate the remarkable Elliot Page today.”

Social media was then flooded with support for Elliot by fans and fellow actors. “Elliot Page’s words here are so beautiful and so eloquent, and he is reminding me that we can all be brave and joyful, even when things are scary. And this year especially, that reminder is such a GIFT. Sending them love/praise/gratitude/well-wishes etc etc etc etc,” wrote Anna Kendrick, retweeting Page’s post.

GOod Ol’ Canadian boy

Ryan Reynolds was born in Vancouver and one of the things Reynolds is recognized for is being an actor and producer, however he is not as recognized for the charity work he contributes to. Just last week, Reynolds and his spouse, Blake Lively donated $500,000 to a Canadian charity that provides for the homeless youth in Canada.

This has happened before with Reynolds and his charity work. He has donated to many children’s hospitals. He’s donated to other charities such as Vancouver’s covenant house, a high school in Uganda and many more.

Some of the more relevant things Reynolds has been doing lately is teaming up with a sweater holiday campaign for Toronto’s sick kids. He has teamed up with the organization “SickKids” to light a 20 foot sweater. He recently added a video with himself wearing an ugly Christmas sweater in support of the foundation. So far, it has been a successful campaign. It even features Taylor Swift’s new love story to debut in Reynolds advertisement.

Thank You Michael!

The Team wants to give a huge THANK YOU to Michael J. Fox for all the memories he’s given us throughout his wonderful acting career from Marty McFly to Teen Wolf and much, much more. We want to wish him all the best today and in the future.

Michael has been dealing with Parkinson’s disease for a large portion of his life but in the past two years he’s had increased health issues unrelated to Parkinson’s.

His new memoir, No time Like the Future: An Optimist Considers Mortality, is very powerful as Michael describes a very difficult time in his life that resulted in many changes in how he views life.

From him adapting to being in a wheelchair to having his arm shattered causing him to need 19 pins, the Canadian opens up in an interview he did with Closer Weekly and sheds some light on what he’s gone through and overcame.
